ABOUT ME

I returned to higher education as a mature student after I enrolled at my local college on an Art Course. In the beginning I returned to college simply because I had always been artistic and I wanted to develop my artistic skills, little did I know, that the journey I was about to take, would ended up with me graduating from Wolverhampton University with a 2:1 BAhons Degree in 3D design, specialising in glass.

Up on graduation I was also lucky to be awarded a Studio Bursary, which included using the universities facilities to develop my casting skills and ideas, Business Start up course and a MA module. But like many students the need to contribute to the family meant that I had to also work, work then has a tendency to take over and after completing my bursary my dreams were put on hold.

My career followed my volunteering work when I became a full time Community Support Worker and Events Co-ordinator for the next 6 years and part time untill about a year ago. The nature of that type of work, meant I was always on a fixed term contract and regularly found myself never knowing where the next job was coming from. Looking for a new direction, I returned to the skills I had developed at university, combined them with my community experience and developed my small art business, designing/making bespoke glass alongside delivering workshops within the community and local schools which has brought me here.
